A terrific old style NO jazz band with reso lap steel...and a bass sax...amongst others.

It really works!

There has been use of steel guitar in New Orleans jazz since the pre-WWI days:

Yes, really good. Sort of like the Louis Armstrong and the Hot Fives and Hot Sevens, only with steel. It really does go together very well--not far from the Bennie Nawahi hot jazz and hokum ensembles.

I do love Trad Jazz, indeed my very first instrument was a Clarinet. Now I play steel I still try to follow the old Jazz tunes.
Here are a couple I recorded on a 1929 Student Guitar

Tin Roof Blues. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7FaJNcRZngU

Stack o'lee Blues. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHETAHwxry0
