I just acquired a really nice sd 10 and I am trying to find the year built. I cant find a chart with the build dates of the Emmons guitars. the serial # is 1780 L and it was purchased new from Music city in Miss.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Landry

Landry, If anyone other than the Lashley's have a chart. I haven't seen it shared. I'll guess late 97 or 98ish. Doesn't make much difference as they were all the same from around Serial# 900 to serial 2000. Yours is a Strayhorn era guitar.

As for the post serial# 2000's. I offer no opinion as I've never had any experience with those.

I have owned 2 LII's, 1358 and 1362, suspected build date around 1995.

Jack Strayhorn era: 87-90 assembly
90-99 inspection and setup.
I do not know which is SKH or regular. The LgII came with 14 hole belcranks. LGIII was LGII with detuning features either both necks or E9th (mostly E9)

Just to add to Carl's post. There were a few L-II's and L-III's that were custom ordered short key heads. However they had the longer LII-LIII cabinet and changers.

There were around 400 original short body short keyed Legrandes built.

I hate to disagree with Carl Dixon who is a great friend and mechanical hero of mine. But after re-reading this thread. As I remember.

SKH. Officially know as the Legrande. 1979 till mid 1986

Lashley LeGrande. mid 86 till 92. This series had 4 hole bell-cranks till mid 1990. When Hal Rugg had one made with 14 hole machined bell-cranks. I have the second with machined 14 hole cranks. Late Oct 1990. After that, most still had 4 hole cranks till maybe mid 1991. The current style, (Stamped I think they call it.) 14 hole cranks showed up sometime in 1991.

Later in late 91 or early 92. Ron made the current 14 hole cranks standard. Changed the pedal rod ends to black. Added the LII decal And went with a fret-board with wider marks. Which I never cared for. Just my personal opinion.

The LeGrande III is just an LII with the counter-force on one or both necks.

A couple photos of what we have been discussing. My photos leave much to be desired, the guitar is really clean.

I have seen this steel in person ! Looks brand new and looks like it hasn't been played at all ! Plus he has a Nashville 400 and a L120 GoodRich pedal like new too ! If he decides to sell this pretty thing and amp and volume pedal someone will be getting a steel and 400 and volume pedal in new condition! [/b]

not sure if I am going to keep this one or sell it, If I decide to sell I'll probably sell with a like new nashville 400 and a goodrich 120 pedal.
I will post here on the forum If I do decide to sell. obviously I can't play this one, a push pull and a zum.
Thanks
