Bill, You will never be permitted to join the "flippers club" with that attitude of pricing the guitar as you have. Shame on you. 😎😎

I had a Boen D-10 like your in black years ago and really liked that steel. It was dependable in every way.

I remember it being lighter than a ZB I had which was a D -10 with 8+4.

Good luck with the sale. Stevet

Thanks, Bill. Guitar serial number 101185 ... (though it didn't stamp well, that's an "8" before the "5") ... Boen used guitar completion dates as the serial numbers, so that guitar was completed on Oct 11th, 1985. As to the woodgrain, I remember the description stamped on the back of the mica being listed as Colonial Walnut, so I guess you could definitely call it a walnut finish.

Seeing the added photos, I see the changer is 3+3 and the serial number narrowed it right on down. This is one of the few guitars we did in a woodgrain while I was working with Boen (most of the guitars we built while I was with him were black). This is a fine guitar and I envy whoever is able to jump on it before I can. I'm still crunching numbers, but I'm sure it'll be sold before I can afford it.

By the way (for Jerry Roller), looking back at my records, I was actually with Boen sort of twice; off and on from Feb thru Nov 85, and then solid full-time from Mar 86 until Nov 87. I also see that my guitar had two serial numbers; 042585 (which was when it was initially completed as a D-10 with 8&5). I later turned it into 10&7 (when I came on full-time with Boen) and gave it a second serial number, 031886.

And, here's a little fun trivia on the fretboards; the concentric diamonds on the fretboards weren't inspired by US Steel or the Steelers ... Leroy Prine simply wanted diamonds with curved sides, so he used a $1.50 plastic school protractor with varying sizes of concentric diamonds for the diamond designs (I've actually still got that old protractor tucked away in a storage box). The original batch of fretboards were monochrome with simple white on black. Boen later had them colored in "Emmons colors" and I've always loved those fretboards. Smile

My guitar, with 10&7, weighed in at 77 lbs in the case.

Good luck on the sale, Bill. Though I'd love to have it, I hope it moves quickly for you. I know what doctor bills are like! Best regards, Jim.
