| What is the E7th tuning used for mostly( type of music) on a console or lap steel? |

On my E7 6 string, I use (low to high) B, D, E, G#, B, E.
That is an older traditional E7 tuning.

Low-to-hi.....E-B-D-G#-B-E....OR...B-D-E-G#-B-E
are probably the 2 versions of E7 that I have seen.
It all depends on what tuning you are currently coming from, the gauges you are using now and what type of music you want to play.

The tuning I use above works well for older gospel melodies where you can play across the neck, and only move the bar two places from the root position.

| I built a couple console steels , one i tuned to c6 and the other is the e7 tuning which im not familiar with , i was just wondering what style of music is played on E7 tuning |

Any music you want to play. I play traditional and some contemporary gospel. E7 is not quite as "Hawaiian" as C6, but closer to E9.

Blues/rock on Low-to-Hi...E-B-D-G#-B-E as it has that nice power chord on the bottom.
Personally, I wouldn't use Low-to-Hi...B-D-E-G#-B-E but would instead use Low-to-Hi...B-D-F#-G#-B-E which turns the tuning to E9, gives you a minor chord on the bottom and there probably isn't much you can't play on that tuning. This version I got from a Mike Neer post a long time ago. Plus, it works perfectly with C6 gauge strings.
