| What was everyone's first song? I'm still looking for mine. Took a crack at Ben Keith's part on "Heart of Gold" and am doing the exercises from Jeff Newman on Right Hand Alpha at the moment, but not really a "song" yet. |

It was over 50 years ago - I honestly can't remember.
I do remember my first song on dobro when I took up that member of the steel guitar family in my early 20s in the mid '70s: Wabash Cannonball.

| I do not remember what my first song was but I would suggest Faded Love, in D at the 10th fret. You will use strings 10, 8,7,6,5,4, & 2 and the 2 AB pedals and the Eb lever. Then for a change play it at the 5th fret on strings 5 and 6 up and down the neck. Great song without a fiddle, and it sounds like steel! |

| Hmm...probably something from Winnie's book, first song I played as an instrumental was Faded Love from Jeff Newman's Music To Steel By. That course taught me how to play melody. |

| I had an uncle who was a great fiddle player. My first song was Faded Love in D so we could do it together. We only got to do it a couple times before he passed on. I think of him every time I play it. |

Since the posting doesn't limit the song to one played on pedal steel, my 1st song was "The Beginner's Waltz" in A, high bass on an Oahu acoustic guitar.  |
