Dan I like his vivid sharing of his epiphany when he was shown and figured out what it takes to project and emote being a musician.
That was humble of him to relate that.

Indeed he was a lucky Dad having Buddy for a son. As Buddy stated in the interview Doug posted, he was very much a lover of the Steel Guitar and then to have a son like Buddy to become what he became. What a blessing for them both  One a lover of it and the other to be a master of it, I think is indeed fate.
I remember as a young boy growing up in Mishawaka myself, in the early 70's, going with my parents to garage jams and listening to people like Bill Hinsey, John Harbison, Leonard Kindley, Junior Ward, my father Larry Self sit and jam for hours at a time, some of these fella's were playin' music with Buddy back in the 50's, in and around Mishawaka, now it's the 70's and these fella's are playing music for Buddy's parents in jams while Buddy is making music for the world. I would always be in awe in their presence, knowing who they were, and particularly who Buddy was. Because growing up in a house of Steel, we all knew who Buddy was, and to watch his parents being entertained by Steel that wasn't Buddy was kinda surreal. Even being a young boy, you could just feel the magic of it all. Both of his parents being very large lover's of Steel. I can think of numerous times where they would drive across town to listen to these fella's jam Steel for hours on end. We still have photos of some of these jams and I will try to find and post some of the photo's. They are indeed COOL!

This is the way to wake up in the morning. I only met Buddy once at Jeff Newman's workshop and this brings back pleasant memories. Thanks for posting these clips guys.
