This Baritone is the guitar equivalent of a 20oz porterhouse steak: at first glance it seems like too much, but after the first bite you know it’s a perfect fit. We don’t know what Marc Beneteau’s been feeding his regular guitars to make them grow up to be such impressive baritones, but the results are hard to miss. Juicy, fat trebles. Bass response with some meat on its bones. Sustain so prolonged you have to chase it away with a stick.
Marc put together this 2007 powerhouse with a shorter (in Baritone land) 27†scale and his M body (16 1/8†lower bout) in a Macassar Ebony and Sitka Spruce package—the Ebony and scale warm up the voice and keep it articulate, while the Sitka makes sure all those beefy overtones project well beyond the soundhole. There’s also a Laskin-style Arm Bevel and a soundport in the upper bout, and a McIntyre Feather pickup with which to make a splash into amplified territory. Played in nicely but in like new condition, this Beneteau Baritone is a delicious pièce de résistance you won’t want to miss out on.
