Anyone know who played steel on the early Derailers albums? I'm just sort of discovering that band these days and they've made some great music. It looks as though the band has had an awful lot of personnel changes over the years. Also pedal steel doesn`t seem to be part of the lineup anymore.
Just as a sidebar, someone powerful in the industry should tackle the issue of musicians credits being absent from downloaded music. The headliners themselves all have websites and out respect for the players who contribute so much to their success they should list musician credits on their websites. In the old days I pored over the credits of every vinyl record or CD I ever bought. They should be mandatory across the board.

Full Western Dress (1999) was Marty Muse.

Jackpot (1995) lists Scott Walls on pedal steel. Those are the only 2 I have.

I have played Full Western Dress to death. It's a great CD with Villanueva's terrific vocals. Hofeldt wrote some of the material and plays pretty good guitar.
I got to see them at the Grand Ole Opry a couple times when they were getting a lot of attention.

I sort of lost interest in the band after Tony left.

I agree concerning musicians credits, BTW...FYI, discogs.com and allmusic.com have musician credits listed for some recordings.

I`ve got `Full Western Dress` and `Here Come the Derailers`. Love them both! `Hold on Fool Heart`is my favorite cut out of the two albums but there's not a bad cut on them IMHO. Oddly, for some reason that cut is not at 440hz reference and when I play along with it I have to play between the frets. Anyone else ever notice that? The rest are normal.
Jerry, it's Tony's voice that I prefer too. He quit to become a preacher apparently.
I had heard of Marty Muse but not Scott Walls. Nice steel playing all around.

Reverb Deluxe is their defining album and a must-have, in my opinion. (complete with "hidden" Prince cover at the end!)

Yes Bill; after they cut that....they thought it was a tad slow...so they just sped up the whole track a little...so that ended up making it digitally in between tones...ha.

Thanks Ricky, so that's what accounts for it. Too bad they hadn't notched it a tad more to the nearest half tone. Love those fast shuffles.

"Live Tracks" is my favorite Derailers album. Scott Walls plays the steel on it. Check it out.
