Is anybody familiar with a 1940 Gibson Square neck, 6 string? |

Gibson had two acoustic Hawaiian models in 1940, the Roy Smeck model (dreadnought shape) and the smaller HG-00. The necks are not exactly square in profile, but in between a round and square shape. |

Although not branded Gibson, there are the stenciled Kalamazoo-shaped Mastertone Specials (mostly Hawaiian but some Spanish were made too) 1939-42. One of my favorite non-Weissenborn acoustic steels, despite their inexpensive price. (There are also Mastertone Special electric steels.) |
