I don't believe so. The only time he was overseas was 1944.

It's one of the last Centuries, 1966-7. I used to have one just like it.

It's the fourth and final version of Gibson's Century-6. Available circa 1966-67, it was the final lap steel Gibson produced. It's characterized by its mahogany body in Gibson red, much like an SG guitar of that era, and its mini-humbucking Firebird pickup. It has narrower spacing at the bridge than most Gibson 6-string lap steels. Produced in relatively small numbers, they're not common and relatively valuable today, at least in comparison to most 6-string postwar Gibson lap steels.
