Carter 6th string split not engaging

I'm having an issue with my 6th string - my RKL lowers the G# to F# fine, but the note will note engage when I hit the B pedal to get it up a half step. My B pedal works fine on it's own.

Thanks for your help, I tried searching and didn't come up with anything.

It's an SD10 Carter.

A few questions:

Is this a new problem? Did it work at some point and then stop working?

With the knee lever engaged, do you hear at least some change in pitch when you step on the B-pedal? Or is it utterly unchanged?

It might be good to loosen all 3 of the involved tuning nuts until they're not doing anything and then start over tuning them up. We're talking the B-pedal, 6th lower, and the split tuner (the nut with red on the end).

Hi Tucker,

It used to work, giving me a nice minor chord. The knee lever works fine on it's own, but when I engage the B pedal it does not raise it the 1/2 step to my desired change at all, no change anymore.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will attempt a re tune.

Dick: I would assume I have the additional split rod, as it used to function properly.

This is my first issue with the Carter...I am more familiar with MSA's under the hood or even my old PP Emmons student model.

I suspect that the raise rod on the knee is overtuned: does its nylon nut have an effect on the open G# with no pedals or levers activated?
Back off both of the 6th string rods on the knee lever until they do nothing (this is an extreme step, but overkill is better than underkill)
Release all pedals and knees; tune the G#
Add the B pedal; tune the A note.
Holding the B pedal, add the lever; tune the G with the nut in the lowering scissor
Release the B pedal, holding the lever; tune the F# with the nut on the rod in the raise scissor of the lever.

It's also possible that the guitar is due for lubrication of the pivot rivets, and the B pedal finds it easier to move the lowering finger than the string.

I get to the video when I click on it, but that video will be of minimal help to you. It covers the split screws in the changer method, not the extra rod method that you have.

Thanks Lane, I started to follow your procedure and it seemed to be working until the little brass collar came off my rod that has the split in it. Not sure how I can get it back on there in such tight quarters?

The frustration lever is high though.

I'd probably put something sticky on the short leg of a long 1/8 or 9/64 Allen wrench, and use that to position a dogbone in tight spaces.
Also, approach from the less populated 7th string side
