For those who still use a "string + pot" style volume pedal I found this to very helpful tip. BEFORE it breaks (and you need it), make a sketch or diagram of the routing of the string on your pedal, showing the loops and wraps. I drew one hidden on the inside of the bottom panel of my Goodrich pedal. Very handy. You'll have a good reference right where and when you need it.

Great tip, plus a good future reference for someone with a Goodrich. Took me a moment to realize that it wasn't a piece of paper but the inside surface of the pedal bottom - good thinking!

I don't have to tell you to also tape an extra length of fresh string inside the pedal, do I? Wink

I was in my late 40's when I decided to start learning from other peoples' mistakes. Thanks for posting these tips.
...Of course, I still haven't learned to stop procrastinating.

What size is the Allen head screw that holds down the string?

If you mean the allen head screw that holds the brass barrel to the pot shaft, it's a #6 screw that takes a 7/64 size allen wrench...IIRC.

Good tip.

I'm old so maybe I'm not correct but I seem to recall a Goodrich with different string mounting(??).
