Anyone recognize this fellow?

From Univ. of Texas Digital Collections:
Quote:
Color photograph of a steel guitarist at the Texas Folklife Festival in September of 1975. The steel guitarist is seated on a small chair playing the steel guitar and wearing a white shirt, jeans, tan leather boots, and a dark brown cowboy hat. Members of the band are visible behind him as they okay under a striped canopy.

If someone could enhance the photo, he appears to be wearing a name tag pinned to his shirt. Also, note his distinctive method of holding the bar, with his thumb positioned along the side of the neck.

Unlike the movies, I don't know of any technological way to actually make the existing image clearer. You can enlarge it, but it's still unreadable..
Maybe someone will recognize him.. Oh Well

Looks a lot like a great player named Kenny Tranthum. He played a lot here in the Bakersfield CA area, and moved back and forth to Texas. He was also a great singer and six string player. This is my guess, and probably wrong?

I believe it says "BILL" in capital letters. Yes I know, there will be a dozen posts to follow that dispute this. The forum would be boring without a lot of pointless debate.

I don't know his name; however, I'm pretty sure he and I went to different schools together.

I found the original here: https://texashistory.unt.edu/ark:/67531/metapth228000/m1/1/high_res/, it's much higher resolution and based on this I'm convinced his name is ________ [not specified]. Let's just go with Encyclopediq, it was a fairly common name in Texas in the mid fifties.

Well, apparently his initials are M,S & A. That should narrow it down some.

I think he enjoys small boats. I've heard Sam Antonio rows.
