Just had a 1973 ShoBud S10 3X6 refurbished by Ricky Davis. Wow! What a class act. The guy is an encyclopedia of ShoBud info and does awesome work. I sent him an unplayable guitar with a pickup that was laughable. He Installed a new Wallace Trutone pickup that he helped design just for the old ShoBuds. Re worked the racks and barrels, set it up with an awesome copedent, cleaned it up and sent it back to me in less than a month! Sounds, looks and plays great. I can't say enough about Ricky. A big thank you!

And Thank you Terry for entrusting me on helping to make this steel be what it is supposed to be. It is a WONDERFUL playing and sounding Sho-bud now.....enjoy.
Eddie; here is what I set it up as....and OMG I loved this set up and kinda wish I had this Steel(like the way I wish I had your blonde ShoBud that I did..ha...)

Terry, that is a very cool guitar you have. Excellent use of P4, 5 & 6. Your steel was fixed up by the Sho-Bud master. My 3x2 has been idle for some time. This makes me want to set it up. Nothing else sounds like these round-front Buds.
Question about the switch on the end plate... was that for the coil tap? Does the TT pickup have a split coil? |

That's a great job the guitar looks fabulous and just like my single 10 I like the copedent also, they do sound great.
Is your pedal 6 like a pedal 6 on a universal or C6th guitar?

Hey Dan; we had Jerry wind a split coil TrueTone to continue the original sound-ability of an original split coil Sho-bud pickup. Jerry doesn't like doing it; but he will for me...ha...This pickup is wound to 17,500 ohm and 12,500 for the coil tap.
Alan; that copedant sheet I put up there is exactly how I set up Terry's 6 pedal 3 knee lever E9 tuning. pedals 4;5;6 are nice movements of the E9 tuning and nothing to do with a C6th or Universal Tuning.

He did one for me too Ricky, quite a few years back. I think Jerry is 'the man' if you want a ShoBud-style single coil sound. How ya been pard? I think it's been about 20 years ago I took that lesson from you when you lived in Round Rock, am I due again?  |

My first steel was the same as this one. Blond 1973 model 6140, but with only 2 KLs.
This looks like the one listed on the GC website a couple months back. Good to see a neglected old 'Bud brought back to proper glory. |

| I owned this for about 24 hours. I was planning to compare it to my 6139 and decide which to keep. It needed way more work that I could justify doing myself just to make the comparison. Every single piece was crudded up. So glad Ricky got a hold of it; if anyone could bring this steel back to life, it's Ricky! |

I saw the guitar and offered a little less for it as is, and they sold it to me. So glad Ricky was willing to take on this beast! He really brought this one back from the grave! |

Raising s.4 to F# independent of s.5 can be considered a "Mooney" change.

Dicky Overbey had it for a good while as well. I believe Bobby Flores had Rick Price add that change to his '65 wraparound not too long ago.

Yes Tommy D and Skip and Herb got it right..ha...heck I had it on my Fulawka. Cool thing on this 6 pedal; is while you have A&B pedals down; you can right foot over to put that 4th string raise in or out and same with 8th string lower whole tone...plus used together by itself is a very nice rockabilly chord..ha...and then I can give you 9 more things; but then my head will blow up...so I'll stop now...ha..
