Just got my new William S-12 in extended E9 tuning. It came last Saturday. Very excited. Even my cat thinks it's awesome. I have been playing it almost non-stop since I got it and I really like having the lower strings (G# and E). The fit and finish is perfect and it's very beautiful in person.
Bill Rudolph was great to work with. There have been many nice things said about him and the company here on the forum and they're all true by my experience.
I just went with their suggested copedent for E9 with the low G# raise to A with B pedal and lower to F# with the RKL. The low E also raises/lowers with the LKs.

Just absolutely stunning beauty. I love Williams guitars. I love that you chose not to cover up that gorgeous birds eye with some ugly vinyl pad too. |

Gotta love the uniqueness and compactness of a keyless guitar. That's a real show piece! |

I've had mine for 6 months or so now, and just starting to use it as my main guitar. I have limited use for the bottom E, but love having that extra G#. Nice and light to carry, Bill has been super helpful with my silly questions. (Don't oil the strings on top of the changer!) |
Jeremy--that's a nice looking guitar. Agreed, Bill has been great. I've only had mine for 6 days, so my head is still trying to get around how to use the lower strings. Not sure how the low E will play into it, but I love how the 8,10,11 strings sound together. I'll likely use it as my main guitar going forward. _________________ Williams S12 Ext. Thanks Greg. Your Williams U12 review earlier this year is what got me to actually place the order. I had been interested in getting a Williams ever since I found out that Greg Leisz and Eric Heywood both play them. I've always loved the tone (as much as style) of their playing. Your review made me want to take a look at the website and then I called and talked to Bill for a bit about it. I think I placed the order the next day. So thanks for that. I did mention to Bill that you were the reason I ordered one. _________________ Williams S12 Ext. E9 keyless, Williams S12 Ext. I was just up visiting family in Minnesota over the 4th. and had Bill install a new pickup on my Williams SD -10. While I was there, he let me check out all 14 guitars that he and Tim were getting ready to ship out. It was freakin lacquer wood porn!!!! Beautiful work and great guys to boot! |

Sounds very cool. You would have seen this one then since it was delivered on 7/15. When trying to decide what finish/color to go with, I ended up with my third or fourth choice (natural) because I thought it would be the most timeless. Seeing all 14 at once, was there any color/finish that really stood out to you? Also, how many natural finish guitars were there? _________________ Williams S12 Ext. E9 keyless, Williams S12 Ext. Seeing all 14 at once, was there any color/finish that really stood out to you? Also, how many natural finish guitars were there? The one guitar that really stood out was a tiger maple brown to honey amber sunburst with tortise shell/pearl inlay. I don't recall any other natural finish guitars |
