I’ve recently been in despair because I couldn’t seem to find a set of strings that would not create a bunch of noise as I slide the bar on them. It finally dawned on me to suspect there was something wrong with the bar. I took my 30 year old bar to the garage and clamped it in my rubber jawed vise, then polished it down with 1000 grit emery cloth, followed by another round with 2000 grit.

Low and behold, the bar noise is gone!

My next idea was to take my finger picks and polish them too, (plastic thumb pick also). Yes it made a noticeable difference, but not quite as dramatic as polishing the bar. Now I’m sounding as smooth as Buddy Emmons, YIPEE! (Okay, that was an exaggeration).

I won’t recommend this as it does slightly alter the appearance of the bar, but as for me I’m gonna’ keep fine grit sanding materials on hand from now on.

Quietest bar I've ever used.

My thoughts exactly Jeff. I thought my BJS bar was good, slick and quiet, until I got my Eezzee-Slide. The drag reduction was very marked, and it is QUIET!!

Basil's bar is the best I have ever tried by a long way.
