What value and type should the potentiometer and capacitor be in a 1950's Supro Lap steel? Thanks

Many folks use a linear pot for the tone control, the "B" type pot. Seems like the impedance of the pickup coil has some effect on the ohms value of the pot, but I'm not sure of that. You may have to try a few different pots & capacitors, to get the control like you want it..

The lap steel only has a volume control.

A pretty safe place to start is 250k audio taper pot and .047MFD cap. If it sounds dark to you then you can switch to .022MFD or maybe a 500k pot.

If it only has a volume control then you do not need a capacitor.
My Supro has a 500K audio taper pot for volume.

good rule of thumb.

single coil....250K

humbucker......500K

caps can vary .02mfd up to .05mfd usually covers a safe range for guitars.

audio taper for both pots. i dont like linear.
