Am needing something to cover both steel (mainly E9 but a few C6) and lead guitar and find the Peavey Nashville 112 isn't cutting it for the guitar (at least not at the EQ I prefer for steel). So I'm thinking about this Fender Deluxe 112 Plus.

Anyone got one they're ready to part with?

Hey Jim,
I'm not ready to part with mine but I thought I'd weigh in with the possibility that there may be some misunderstanding about the power rating of the 112 Plus. A recent thread indicated that it was rated at 90 Watts but everything I've found online indicates that the 112 Plus is 65W. If anything, it may push less air than a Nashville 112 (80W). Nice little amp though, and you're welcome to try mine out if you're ever in western MD for any reason.

It's worth bearing in mind that the difference between 65W and 90W is about 1.4dB. I have two of these Fenders and they are loud. They are built for guitar (obviously) and make a hard sound on the steel which I like.

Ian, what do you mean by "a hard sound"? Can you please try to describe a bit further?

Thanks.

By the way, before I answer that, I looked at this thread by Tony Prior http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=318119&highlight= which tells us that the regular 112 is 65W and the "Plus" model (of which I have a pair) is 90W.

Jim, by a hard sound, I mean the native Fender preamp eq which sounds as though it already has treble and presence dialled in. I don't play regular guitar, but I guess it's designed to compliment the Fender guitar sound. I run the amp flat - the slightest amount of extra top makes my teeth hurt - it has plenty of bite. Not to everyone's taste maybe, and in any case sound is tough to describe. I have never played with a particularly loud band, but I'm confident my rig would cut through.

Having thought some more, probably the best single word to describe it is "metallic".

The tone has drastically changed with the Fender Gold Label Emmi I installed in mine, it can be harsh, meaning very bright, but can be tamed, but the mids are way more controlled .
