Anyone play with fingers instead of picks?

I don't usually post in the pedal steel section but felt this is universal for pedal and non-pedal players.

Picks really are the way to go.

I use a plastic thumbtack and 2 metal fingerpicks

I got use to them by wearing them on and off the steel in between practice breaks. Making a coffee of having a nicotine break. (Vape)

It took about 6 months but now they are a part of me and since my E13 setup is similar to E9 pedal steel the High 1st string rings clean and without picks sounds flat to my ears.

I started off without picks but now I wish I didn't even waste that time in the beginning. It makes a huge difference.
