I had a Performer 650 for a long time and I'd run my Carter Starter thru it and then into a Marshall 1936 cab. I have several recordings; it was just fine. But at some point I just started using DI on steel for recording..

I don't know that it has enough power for a full band situation on steel. And the stock speaker is no good at all, IMO. Into the 1936 it was fine.

Mine failed when I dropped a screwdriver whilst trying to fix the input jack. Shorted the reverb drive and I never did get it fixed. It went to the curb in the last move.

Those are underrated amps for six-string, IMO. It may not have all that lush tube tone soloed but it cuts well in a live mix and offers a great range of tones. It'd do everything from Dickey Betts to Lukather and beyond.
