Hi All,
I need a couple of rod/finger connector hooks in case the one I just fabricated from stake-flag wire snaps.
My Emmons S-12 push-pull has metal fatigue symptoms: is anyone selling Emmons Push-Pull replacement parts? A forum member graciously sent me compressions springs a few weeks ago, so I hate to bother him again. We need a commercial supplier like Bobbe Seymour was in his day, who’s dedicated to keeping our dinosaurs alive.
I gig with mine, and, considering today’s steel guitar prices, have to keep her on life support |

Those hooks you made up will last a long time.
That's what I use and have no problems. |

That's reassuring, Erv!
I'm playing in Maryland tomorrow . . . don't want to fix it on a dark stage . . . can't turn around & go home to my workbench |

Yep. What Erv said.
Some years ago, one of those hooks broke on my guitar during a sound check for an outdoor gig. The stage happened to be near a livestock corral. So, with a number of hours till our show, I set about looking for something that would work. At the corral I found some baling wire. It had just the right amount of stiffness to hold a formed shape and was small enough to go through the holes in the pull rods and changer fingers. It worked out fine.
The late Bobbe Seymour provided the Emmons replacement parts at a later date, but I've kept the bent bailing wire in my pak-a-seat just in case....
Keep on pickin'!

Per Mike Cass's recommendation I've used the wire from the little flags surveyors use. You can get them at Home Depot. The wire isn't quite as stiff as the originals, but is stiff enough. Works great. _________________ Mostly Pre-1970 guitars. |

I usually pick mine up along the side of the road. |

Jack,
Yes they do, but most of the time they're occupied by dog teams! |

Gents,
I'm keeping my flag wire attached for luck . . . it's lasted over a week & hasn't bent or snapped.
Thought you'd want to know that I just received spare hooks & sundry parts from Billy @ Steel Guitar East: great, fast service. I hope he stays open for the long haul--we need him
Here's my rig @ Blue Side Tavern, Frederick, MD, last week. See why I need parts?
Now, can somebody fix steel player turkey-neck? Ha.

I obtained parts from Billy Cooper's Music in Orange, VA, too, after my first post. It's a great source for parts, learning aids, and steels (he has a large room full of them to try).
I'd love to swap my steel for a Mullen, GFI, or whatever, but, besides the cost, it seems like everyone who has unloaded his push/pull wishes he had it back. |

A coincidence as I played the Blue Side this past Friday. No photos though.
