It's been a mini heat wave around these parts this week so instead of doing what I was supposed to be doing yesterday afternoon, I wrote this Caribbean-inspired tune in A6th. I recorded it this morning but kept getting this weird sitar-like sound I hated so here's the usual MIDI of the melody instead: http://picosong.com/7tpS

Cool tune. You've captured the spirit and feeling of the islands!

Thanks. Even though it's inauthentic and kitschy as all get out, I always enjoyed the Caribbean-inspired music of Harry Belafonte and Marty Robbins. They're nowhere near real Calypso, which started as protest music. I dig it anyway. My tune is in that same ersatz island vein. Those syncopated rhythms are fun to play.

Some of the Jolly Boys tunes are fun when you feel like being in island mode but not Hawaiian island mode. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inq1QDw3a_o
