I used to correspond regularly with Ted (Solesky) as we are both originally from central Pennsylvania.

The last I heard from him, he was in Montana and was selling off his equipment as he was going to move to Viet Nam (he has a preference for Oriental women). That has been close to two years ago.

Ted and I have been friends for 30 years but he hasn't called me in about 8 years so I started trying to locate him but have had no luck so far. I've found who I thought was possibly related to him through marriage but no one has responded to my Emails so far.

I tried looking for Obituaries and haven't found anything there. Ted wasn't in the best of health in quite a few years and the fact he hasn't called or responded to posts on the Forum has me worried he may not be with us any more.

I hope I'm wrong.

Ted was originally from the Lebanon, Pa area. In the mid 60's I was in a central Pa band (lead guitar) and the steel player in the band was taking lessons from him. I lost track of him and didn't hear from him again until he contacted me via the Forum when he was living in Mineral Wells, Tx. Later he moved to Montana and was working there (he was either a CPA or worked in that area). Then, as I posted earlier he sold off his music equipment (he sold his two Carter's in 2014) and was going to move to Viet Nam. That was the last I heard from him.

I do miss his absence. He even posted to me in U.K. dvd's of his playing. I know that he played with a D9th tuning with some weird pulls. Confused

Micky "scars" Byrne U.K.

Back in 1980, I joined a band in Berks County, PA called Blazing Saddles. I know Ted tried out for the band, but I was fortunate to be chosen. Ted came to see us once or twice while the band was together.

Ted played some of most beautiful sounds I ever heard on a steel.
Last time I talked to him was in October 2016 and he said he was
going to Africa to get married. He sent me some of his videos and
I tried to help him sell his Carter steels. He sure was a nice fellow
and I miss him. Here's some more of his beautiful playing.

Update on Ted, I finally tracked his sister down and she said he had a stroke and is in the early stages of Dementia. She said he was in a care facility and doesn't associate with anyone anymore.

I was deeply saddened to find that out.

Sad to hear about Ted. I've known him or knew of him since the mid 60's when I lived in central Pennsylvania, as did Ted.

The steel player in our (York, Pa) band, Harry "Hap" Hatterer was taking lessons from him in 1965.
