Drats, I think I may have a shorted pickup on my Emmons D-10 - the C6 pickup sounds fine in the solo position, but when I try to combine both the E9/C6 pickups in the center position, I get a hollow sound, thin and lower output on C6 only. The E9 pickup is healthy at 14.5K and sounds fine in both of its switch positions, but the C6 pickup reads as an open coil on my Ohm meter (even though I'm getting a strong signal in the rear neck position).
Long way of saying, does anyone out there have a 17.5K Emmons single coil they would be wiling to sell? Standard mounting.
Or perhaps a recommendation for a rewind?
Thanks in advance,
LC

Larry, did you disconnect the PU and measure it?
I trust the pickup more than the selector switch especially when it sounds good when the switch is on individual pickup. The contacts in the switch are small and held in position by a single small rivet which can become loose and rotate out of position.

Close this one up, the pickup problem has been solved, at least temporarily.
I disconnected the pickup and it still read zero, but I dug through my steel guitar tool box and found an Emmons single coil rewound by Jason Lollar a few years ago that I didn't end up using, just installed and sounds just great, very close in balance and tone to the existing E9 pickup.
Happy Camper!

I would like to get this pickup rewound, I know Jason is pretty busy, any suggestions for other pickup restoration work? |
