Didn't think I'd ever sell it but here goes. Somewhat rare 1956 Fender Dual Professional Dual 6 Stringmaster console guitar. 22.5" scale. Got some patina - dings and pickwear, but not excessive. I think it looks (and sounds) great. It's been a player. With the exception of the tone knob, all the chrome plating looks very good with a few areas of discoloration but no pitting. I'll post lots of pictures so you can judge for yourself. Electronics and tuners all work well. Ground connections were improved to make it more trustworthy for gigging. Leg clutches all work. Case is a little raggedy but still holding up. Guitar and legs weigh about 33 lbs. in the case.
Reason for selling? I'm finally getting used to my Dual 8 string enough to gig with it and this one is now mostly living in the case. Time for someone else to enjoy it. This is an ideal guitar for a six string player that would like the versatility of a second tuning without having to stop and switch guitars. One thing I like about it better than a D8 Stringmaster is that the string spacing is 3/8" at the bridge AND the nut.
$1100.00 + shipping. I saw a really nice cream colored D6 go for over $2K on ebay last year with a pretty good sales job (same guitar that Steve Howe uses, etc.) but I'd rather sell it here where I feel it would be more appreciated and hopefully avoid the vultures. I really don't want to deal with overseas shipping so I'll be giving U.S. buyers priority for the first week it's listed. If nothing else, enjoy the pictures!

And more pictures. You'll note in the previous post that it has a different bakelite switch head from the tophat. I used a vintage ham radio switch to replace the broken tophat. I actually like it better. Also note that someone used a brownish touch-up paint in a few spots on the front of the guitar. Works pretty well unless you're a museum curator.

How come Fender called this guitar a Dual Professional and not a Stringmaster? |

There is a pretty complete discussion of this subject on the forum, including pictures from old Fender catalogs.
Bottom line is that there was a evidently a name change around 1960 from Dual Professional to Strinmaster.
