My search for a guitar in my price range has, so far been unsuccessful. I thought I had a Stageone cornered but it turns out that they're very elusive creatures.
If anyone has a Stageone that they bought with all intentions of learning but didn't quite make it I'd be interested in taking it off your hands.
I have a pre approved mortgage (my wife gave me permission) so I'm good to go when one pops up.
I can't be without a guitar for too long because, at my age, I'll forget everything that I've learned over the last year.
But seriously though. If you has a Stageone that you'd like to sell I'm ready.

Good luck with your search Charlie. One was just listed here Sun. for $1000. You have to be vigilant. Hopefully someone selling will see your post before they list it.

I see you have posted about it over in Wanted to Buy.

Have you contacted Doug to see how long a wait for a new one? There's not a huge price difference between a good used and brand new. You might wind up the proud first owner, and can choose the color you'd like as well!

(BTW it's two words - "Stage One")

Doug isn't taking orders right now and probably won't be until the end of the year. I sold the steel I had and I'm "steelless" until I find another one.

There's are some nice relatively inexpensive guitars in the for sale section, including a beautiful red MSA.

Spending Canadian dollars this make it almost $2000 by the time it gets here (exchange, shipping and local taxes). I had one on the line a couple of days ago but it got away. It was a 2016 for $1100.

Stage Ones were $1100 brand new last year. I wonder why this used one is going for $1350?

Most of Al's stuff is listed on his site and he has the same problem as I have. He buys in Canadian dollars too and he has to make a profit which I don't. I like a Stage One because I'm not fooling myself into thinking that I'm ever going to be a great player and a Stage One would fulfill my needs for a steel for my life time.

Lloyd Green made a career out of playing an E9 3x4, not terribly different from a Stage One.

Haven't had any luck finding anything. I'm looking in the $1000 - $1200 range for and S10 3 X 4. Put in a couple of offers but nothing has come of it yet.
Paying in Canadian dollars is a pain in the a$$.

If you were willing to go $1500 - $2000, things would open up a little for you. GFI SM10 3x4 is $1450 US, from Sam Ash.

I just sold a GFI S-10 SM 3 X 2 for a lot less than Sam Ash is charging for them. It was a nice little steel. Maybe I should have kept it. I intended to buy a Stage One but production is down for now.

Are either the Legend (formerly called the Carpsteel,) or the Simmons still in production?

Simmons is. I'm not sure about Carpsteel. A Carpsteel comes up occasionally on the forum or ebay.

Charlie, I have never seen a Simmons, so I can't comment on them. But one of our members, Calvin Walley, has one and said he likes it.

I did see a Carpsteel, and it's a nice little guitar.

Perhaps you should get one of these.
