I'm not a member of any other guitar forums so I don't expect too much info on this but I'm always surprised at the depth of my fellow steel guitar musicians.
Anyway, I double on some simple six string electric in my current band but they want a more acoustic sound so I'm thinking of changing over to my Martin. I intend to restring it to very light gauge strings so I can still bend the occasional notes as I'm used to on electric. But what do I use to give it a "lead guitar" sound? I don't mean overdrive of course, but there must be something out there to make acoustic lead stand out.
The lead singer plays rythymn acoustic so I need to have a different sound from him.
I guess the biggest thing I'll miss is the sustain from the electric.
