Has anyone ever fitted an alumitone pickup in a Kline? I would like to know the overall diamentions of the alumitone pickup? Then only diamention I can find is 4 1/2" Long. The cavity has already been enlarged in the steel and is 4 11/16" x 1 3/4" and 15/16" depth to the bottom of the of the string. Any advice would be great. Thanks Alan

I found these specs on line, the pickup is about 1/16" too high is it possible to file down the side legs without damaging the pickup?

Alan, Lace says NO!!!, You will also need a mounting plate.+- another 1/16th inch. Worth the effort if you can install it.

When I got that Kline - some one had reamed out the pickup pocket to install some funky huge pickup - don't know the brand if there is one.

I sent it to Joe Kline for a once over - He cut and installed a plate to fill the Hole left by who ever destroyed the original hole. Or he modified the pocket floor, not certain what he did to get it back to his standards.

I have no Eye Deer how he attached the new filler plate if he actually put a plate in there.

Even though the Lace is super quiet , I wouldn't alter the integrity of that now Rare Instrument. Just My Personal Viewpoint.

Super Glad you have given this instrument such a good loving home.

Thanks Jay and George
Looks like I could fit one as there is some kind of filler plate in the pocket floor. The guitar is fabulous I've done 100's of gigs with it and it's never let me down so maybe you are right George. However if it's an easy fit and return back to original I may give it a try. I have two Kline guitars and I was thinking of making one of them sound a bit different.
