I have a friend that needs help getting his Simmons tuned right. How does it tune? Do you tune open, then tune the raises like a push-pull. Then let off on the pedals and tune at the endplate for the open note? The lowers are tuned from the top row of screws by the changer?

Right. The highest notes on a string are tuned at the keyhead, lowest notes with those screws. Intermediate notes are tuned in the window with the hex nuts
