6 and 8 String Bridge - String Receivers.
Save tons of labor - simply screw down and presto instant Bridge Unit.
No Need to labor String Through's - set up for 3/16 Metal Bridge = major sustain.

Material -- there is now a wide variety of 3D Print Material called Filament - Plastics - Nylon - Carbon Fiber Reinforcement Strengthened.

The photos below , are all Proto Types - the black sockets are the Carbon Fiber Strengthened.
The Head and Receivers are low cost plastic and can be made from the most durable Carbon Fiber materials.

Hello from George -io

Thanks all for the positive comments and inquiries.

We are currently having production quotes and more samples made in full blown carbon reinforced Nylon which is the most durable strongest material we feel suits these items. I hope to give real prices in the coming days - weeks.

I can say the carbon nylon is the more expensive than the carbon fortified plastics. It will be worth it for sure.

When you factor in the savings on labor which are gigantic -
Safety goes way up with eliminated need for routers - all of the expensive router bits. It all makes since right away.

I've made hundreds of consoles with the graduated head stock all make of wood,
and confirm the sanding aspect is the main reason for retiring from wood work. It's taken years to get my hands stop aching.

The Brass I designed for the active nut and bridge's is supposed to get here today, the plan is to cut and dress - install Photos to follow as soon as possible.

The notch is set up for 3/16 thickness - on my Sustain Monsters we made along the way, this amount of metal gives an amazing tone and sustain. Of Course one may use whatever material they want - and you could go 1/4 thick too.

The Metal will go down to the deck for transfer of energy into the wood plank.

We popped this together yesterday in about an hour or less with one of our peel n stick vinyl fret boards. No Sanding - Drilling - Power tools.

We picked up a plank of 2X6 prime rafter at the Home Depot to demonstrate low cost, although I insisted on putting out the big bucks for stainless steel screws at ACE.

I got the Brass and made up a set of nut and bridge units this morning , -- took about an hour - hacksaw and file all by hand and T square.

The full photo shows my machinists jig for 22.5 scale 12 th fret lines up perfectly.

Put a string on to give an initial test , Chimes out fantastic.
Amazingly the white proto is only 25% material and 75% air inside and It hods the string tension pretty good with no cracking .
This tells me the 100 % nylon carbon fiber reinforced is going to hold up really good.

As soon as the production pieces come back hopefully this weekend , I will be giving them a full test on this 2X6 plank.

What a great idea, George!

What's the bottom line cost for all the parts needed for an 8-string guitar?

Is there a choice of fretboard "looks"?

Thanks for all you've done (and continue to do) for steel guitar, George.

Thanks Andy ,

The Prices above are a good start on what one can expect to pay. When you factor in the "Huge" labor savings, they are free.

As you most likely already know I retired from wood work last year and am selling off my 20-30 remaining super high end lap steels from my personal keepers collection to ease into retirement.

The Focus at George -io's mega facility work room is to create DIY Parts for folks to make their own steel guitars.

This new technology 3D printed parts offerings is new to us and we are thankful to the forum's for allowing us to advertise the birthing of this product line.

Long speech, to say every thing is Ala Carte priced individually

Prices change as we get further into production and look for more economical job shops where we have these items made on industrial quality printers.
The little home type desk top printers will not handle the level of high Tek of these.

In my personal case I like a raised Fret board and going today to get some
wood substrate laser cut for a couple of our Lexan non glare fretboards we have offered for a few years now.

This part alone can be made in a ton of variations - any scale - any shape - any RGB Color - numerous substrates.

Next on the List is a 6 string Key Head set up for a Fender LSR roller nut
We are prepared to make a custom Key Head with wide spacing and big boy rollers if any one will buy them.
The EyeDeer is for the Palm Pedal Folks.

Here are the Fret Board Substrate - Laser Cut to match the Lexan Non Glare, 22.5 S8 and 23 S6

These are poplar wood from Home Depot 1/4" thickness
The laser cut this like Butter in a single pass -
We can make colored plexi - various types of wood - various thickness.

As discussed above , I have made FB's with more elegant shaped bridge ends.

I also can make all sorts of custom markers add signatures any RGB color - black background - white background - color to match your wood - endless possibilities.

Just Add Money and Stir Cool

Here are the Carbon Fiber Nylon 8 String Head and Receiver.

Amazingly strong , more solid than our hardwood consoles.

Transfer of Energy into the wood plank is super , adding to the direct transfer of the Brass Sustain Monster Nut.

Holds Tension Superbly, Hold Tune Excellent.

Post  Posted 10 May 2017 5:38 pm     New S6 Head and Bridge Set Notched for open E D Strings wide
Reply with quote

Here is the latest , we are calling our DIY Rock-it Kit.

The Carbon Fiber Nylon is hard and resonate we built in the nut and bridge -
notched for open E - D strings, .056 down to .013 type sets.

Bridge Spacing is .390 for P90 or typical wide 6 String Pickups.

Nut Spacing is .375 "3/8" as asked for by most 6 String players now of days.

Once you factor in the The Time and Labor Savings are to the point of making the purchase prices literally FREE!

Simply Screw Down these parts to any plank of wood and Presto - Instant Rock-it Console Steel Guitar.

You can set it up for any scale length, we sell separately fretboards , in 22.5 - 23 - 23.5 - 24 - 24.25 - 24.5 - 25 - 26

Say Good Bye to getting a cheepo import and trying to re build it - dumping their super low quality Guitar Parts that were never made for steel guitar.
The cost of real steel guitar parts and the fact that Rouge's are too short to make any scale of desired length is reason alone to boycott such junk.

Made in America by GeorgeBoards Manufacturing a proven Steel Guitar Company with 25 years Experience Designing Real Deal Steel Guitars.
