Hi guys, I just got a Peavey Bandit 65, when I looked in the back I realized it wasn't a Scorpion speaker. Can anyone identify this speaker for me? Thanks

I have a few older Peaveys that don't have speaker labels on them, but there should be an ink stamped number on the frame that would tell you about it.

What would that be? I had three Bandit 65's and they all have different speakers.
1: Scorpion Plus
2: Scorpion
3: This unknown speaker

That could very well be a Blue Marvel...they come in NV112s and have no labels.

Scorpions are made for 6 string guitars. Some guys like 'em for steel, but I don't. I think the Blue Marvel sounds better for steel, but won't handle as much power.

Now, a Black Widow is another subject. I think it sounds better than both the Scorpion and the BM. And more power handling ability.

I'll definitely keep my eyes open for a BW for a low price.

I blew my scorpion speaker last month at a church service and replaced it with a scorpion plus.

I put a Sica neo in my 80's Bandit 65.. great improvement for pedal steel..it's a fine rehearsal, lower volume gig or studio amp now...way better than the scorpion..
