I had a great visit with my friend Danny at the Grand Ole Opry tonight just before his performance with Gene Watson. Danny played so good and tasteful.
I always enjoy visits with Danny. What a great musician and always a kind, uplifting spirited person. 😊

Great guy and a great player.

I understand Gene doesn't use a set list so Danny and the band have to be ready to kick off almost anything from Gene's huge catalog at any time. That's impressive in and of itself! Whoa!

I've had the great pleasure of knowing and calling Danny a friend for around 25 years. We've referred each other for gigs when one of us was booked and one wasn't. He's a just the best as a person and player and he has the best friggin gig in the world.

BTW-Happy Birthday Danny!

Hands Down, Danny is the most warm, sincere gentleman of the steel guitar I have ever met. Just one heck of a nice guy each time I have met him.
One heck of a musician, too!

A buddy of mine told me about this post a few days after it posted. I've tried to come up with the right kind of response. I'm not sure what I can say. I am humbled beyond words. I'm a very lucky musician, to have the gig that I do, without a doubt. Gene is the biggest supporter of steel guitar in the world. I told him one time, that I felt if times got tough, he'd get a drum machine before eliminating the steel seat. He said "You're right".

I'm an average player at best, who happens to live in a place with many opportunities. For Gene's gig, you only have to learn the sig licks and stay out of the way. I told him one time early on, that I'm not getting paid by the note, so I have no motivation to play any more than is called for.

I'm pretty certain any of the pickers here on the forum could cover this gig, if I can. But I am very appreciative of the comments.

Thank you so much.
