A few weeks ago I attended a guitar auction and lurking unloved was a Crate VC 508 5 watt tube amp made in St Louis,
it was in the UK but fitted with the US plug and 110V so it has taken me a few weeks to get round to buying a transformer 240 to 110 volt.

Nobody so £50 later it was mine, untested and unknown although it looked the part.

What a great little amp, 5 Watts is loud, and it fits the tonality for lap steel so I am quite pleased with my leap of faith.

The other bonus is it was part of the estate of a former AC/DC Led Zeplin guitar tec so who knows where when and whatever stories it could tell.

Love my VC-508. Plenty of bang for the buck, as it was under $100.00 brand new -- but that was a while back. Don't think they're made anymore. Awesome little harp amp. In one of my bands I ran the line out into the PA, and used the amp on a stand as my stage monitor. Used it like that for years and always got a great sound. As Lee noted, it's also a good little lap steel amp.
