For those types of places I would say look at powered QSC Speakers with a 15 and horn and not worry aboput using subs.
Our band uses the above but we also have the subs and we use a QSC Touch MIX 16 which has on board effects and you can download an Iphone app so each person can mix their in ear monitors using the built in Wifi. You can also download software for the Ipad and mix as you walk around the venue.
It's very easy to use but packs a lot capabilities in a small package. _________________ Cops aren't paid much so I steel at night. |

Dick's suggestion is great. It would be the bomb. But a little pricey. If you have a limited budget, you might just want to get a package setup like a Mackie, Yamaha, Peavey, etc powered stereo mixer and speakers. Add some monitors. Run mains in one channel, monitors in the others. It all depends how far you want to go with the PA setup. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, NV400, NV112 . Playing for 54 years and still counting. |

There's been a lot of progress the last few years and you can get a lot of sound for not very much $$,especially playing classic country for the fraternal organizations.Probably won't need to mic amps or add subwoofers. The used gear market is full of bargains if you know what you need to have and don't mind some heavy lifting. Here's my setup-sounds great and it's ideal if you like the aforementioned heavy lifting!

Dave is right.
I've picked up most of my PA equipment when bands are disbanding and they want to cash out. |

Lightweight powered speakers are vastly superior and worth making a few payments in the long run.
Big box stores are offering 0% loans for 2-3 years. |

I agree with the powered speakers. However, remember you have to run AC power to each speaker. _________________ Amateur Radio Operator NA4IT (Extra)

The newer Yamaha powered speakers are very good sounding, and less expensive than the QSC K series. And fwiw a lot of people prefer the sound of K10's over K12's. The K10 is usually plenty. |

We are using powered fronts and when we need them at for instance a jam we run powered monitors. Other wise we are using in-ears for monitors. |
