Sorry for asking on your for sale ad, but what is the purpose of the patch cord in the back of the amp?

Thanks...Don

Don, the patch cord just connects the amp's preamp to its power amp. Normally that connection is made internally by a spring tab switch in one of the jacks that shorts the connection when there's no plug inserted, and opens it when someone plugs in effects or an external preamp. Those switching jacks are notorious for developing intermittent contacts (on any amp that uses them; it's not unique to Peavey) and a simple and effective fix is to use a patch cord. It may be that the jacks switch fine because it's such a common problem that I imagine some folks use a patch cord preemptively. But in any case it's a non-problem with the patch there.

Is this amp still available? How much would shipping be to SC?
