Topic: Who is this with Emmons at Jeffran College 1984? |

I have this old photo from my time at Jeffran College in 1984, studying with E. I'm not quite sure who the student is, but I think it might be Junior Martin from Louisiana, as we were pals back then. Anybody know?

Skip,
Buddy's guitar was a short key head Legrand, but did have push pull pedals as I recall, however it was not a lacquer finish it was something he was calling "impregnated" The finish was not glossy at all. The guitar had a pretty sizable gap between the E9 & C6 decks. It started life out with stock Emmons single coils, but there's a picture somewhere of buddy and Bill Lawrence installing the Lawrence pick ups on it at a later date.
I spent a weekend at Jeff's for a C6th Semminar with Mr. Emmons (best money spent, ever!) and he had that guitar. Sunday evening everybody had left but me as I could not get a flight out to the next morning. Jeff drove down to the airport to pick up the incoming class and I got to spend about two hours with this guitar ( Yes, Jeff gave me permission). My recollection is that it played and sounded wonderfully. Of course, knowing it was Buddy's guitar may have had something to do with it. |

OK you guys, lunch is over. Are you telling me that is a SKH that Emmons is setting at?? Also note the round brown spot in the center of front apron? And I think the figuring of the wood is different than in the second picture. But I don't know anything, J.R.

I think the spot in the middle of the apron is one of those rose stick-ons that BE had on his gtrs from time to time.
On closer inspection, I don't really think it's the same gtr. Eagle-eyed Lynn Stafford noticed in the big pic that the changer extends past the end of the neck, as it might have in an early transitional gtr...whereas in the pic with BE, it doesn't seem to extend past the neck.
Now, back to what's for lunch... |
