Hello Everyone,
I was very saddened to hear of Toms passing. I am truly shocked. He was in the middle of building me a guitar. It may have been his last guitar he built, and would mean the world to me if I could somehow actually get the guitar. I had purchased it back in August of 2016, after my last pettingill was stolen. So I ordered another. I hadnt heard from him for a while, he was sending me regular updates of his work on the guitar, it was a beauty! of course, he was such a great builder. The guitar is based on a National Dynamic, brand new design for Tom our last correspondence was 12/30/16.
here are some pics:
If anyone could help locate the guitar I would be eternally grateful, as it could very well be Toms last build, and would be of great sentimental value. It needs to be played, in tribute to the great builder Tom Pettingil...
thanks everyone, and rest in peace Tom, you will be sincerely missed.

Paul,
I loved that design too and made one for myself, single Coil PU.

love it and hope you can find yours, I know there are members who knew Tom, a relative of his posted here not long after his untimely death.

Darn that is very sad. I have one of his guitars. The Southern Belle. It is my main guitar. Love it. Rest in peace to Tom. You were an exceptional craftsman. _________________ Mullen G2 through Fender Steel King
