Most Emmons players raise A pedal above B. We typically sit centered at the fifteenth fret which leaves, our left leg at an angle, leaving that ball of your left foot lower than the left side of your foot. Also the B pedal is only moving a half step so things seem to be happening quickly.

What John said. Interestingly, I have been having trouble with the ball of my foot slightly touching the B pedal and making me out of tune when playing strings 3 and 5 with only the A pedal engaged. Just yesterday, I hacksawed the A pedal rod off to get the A up more than it was. It's more than a 1/4" higher. Problem solved! YMMV.

This is why I play in soft soled moccasins. They allow me to hit either the A or B pedal by itself and completely avoid touching the other pedal.

You need a pair of these genuine "Woose" moccasins.
You better act fast, though, as the Woose has been placed on the endangered species list.

Their not endangered, it's just that they can no longer be imported into this country because of Trump's Wooselem ban.

Seriously though, most moccasins are not soft soled. Most of them have some sort of extra layer on the sole. You need to make sure you get them with just the single layer. I keep mine in my paca-seat, and only wear them when I'm playing.

You know pedals CAN be adjusted for height.
My Zum D-10 was the same way. Breathe on the A or B pedal it would start to make the change.

If the pull engages and starts raising when you just touch the B pedal. There is No Slack. Sounds like you may need to get under the hood and put a little slack in B pedal pull, So it don't start the raise just touching it. Raise the rods 1 or 2 holes on the B pedal bell crank for a longer pull, Then re-adjusting the plastic nut to tune. This will give you a little Fudge Factor in the pull. Good Luck and Happy Steelin.
