THIS STEEL, SHIPS FROM THE USA.
Double Twelve Dekley 9 & 8 Emmons setup; excellent plus condition. CHROMED LEVERS and a solid Birdseye Maple wood body of Coffee Sunburst color. This used to belong to Bill Stroud whose company makes BJS bars. Six levers work the E9 neck and four levers work the C6th neck. The case is in good condition.
Prior to his passing, according to Bill : "It has never been played out except at a gospel singing that we open for the Hinsons in Indiana in the 80's, has very little playing since 1982.Everything is original no changes to anything." Here is his original post from February 2009:

I have not taken it out of my home and have only played it for several weeks a couple of summers.
Price drop from $2750 to $ 2500 plus. shipping $150 . USA Postal Money Oorder. but I willl accept PERSONAL CHECKS from long-time Forum members I know well I will be moving back to the USA the end of June and can ship then,
Again, International pedal steelers are also welcome but shipping, no doubt will be more. A deposit of $100 will hold this steel til the end of June. Thanks, Stevet

Jim Smith kindly took the time to answer another Forumites questions.
I have never played a Dekley. I tried a few all-pulls in the past
but ended up with Emmons push-pulls because I liked the tone and the
liveliness/feel of them.
A lot of people still swear by the Emmons push-pull as the Holy Grail of
tone, but the “big boys†including Buddy Emmons himself all switched to all
pull guitars. Only you can decide what sound and feel you like. The
push-pull mechanics feel more “lively†because of the simple raise dominates
changer and most of the stops are direct to the body.
· Most of the all-pulls that I had sounded ok but kind of generic.
What is the tone of this guitar? I know it's an all-pull, but is there twang
and sustain? I know it's subjective, but what's your impression on the tone
and feel of it?
Dekleys were modeled mechanically close to MSA at the time, so the feel is
similar to other all pull guitars. The tone is bright and the sustain is
excellent because of the solid body and frame design.
· Are the pickups single coils or double coils?
The pickups are single coil. The extra toggle switch on the endplate is a
bypass for the tone control.
· Is the guitar solid one piece maple, or is the finish a veneer or
mica?
The body is solid maple covered with wood veneers. The guitar front, back, ends and
pedal bar are all wood veneers. The inlays are also all wood. The finish is
polyurethane.
Are the necks maple or are they pacawood or what ever Dekley made
their necks with? Is the finish on the necks a veneer?
The necks are Pakkawood with wood veneers.
· Are the pickup covers wood?
The pickup covers are also wood veneers.
· How many raises and lowers for the changers?
The changers are triple raise and double lower.

I remember building that guitar and it's almost like the one I built for myself. This is a great guitar at a great price, and you won't find a nicer guy to deal with than Steve! _________________ Jim Smith

Jim, I'd forgotten that you helped build this steel but should have remembered from that "S" on the nameplate. I have been super pleased with it and should perhaps wait to see if my leg is able move more easily to the left this summer before selling it. There can't have been many of them made.
Have you feet recovered from the "Long March" you went on this summer here in China? The Chinese sometimes overdue it just a bit. Stevet |

Larry Hilt and I designed the SlimLine models and the Cadillac H-S Custom Signature guitars.
Other than the foot blisters and swollen legs from all of the salty food, the tour was great! The only thing I regret was not getting to see you! |

Jim, the Chinese travel agents often feel "more is better" so I know they had you on the run the entire time you were here. I sure wish we could have met up. Perhaps next rime. Stevet |

I played a D10 with 705's for 16 years and loved it. Sustain and tone were very good.Only reason I sold it was I wanted something new. _________________ Cops aren't paid much so I steel at night. |

Just wanted to put in a good word for my friend Steve if guys aren't familiar with him. He has been no help whatsoever curing my "guitar acquisition syndrome" problem over the years!! I'm a repeat customer and I can vouch for Steve's integrity and quality of instruments (he has great taste!)...everything is exactly as advertised and his friend Mark who does the United States end of packing and shipping does the best packing job I've seen. |

I've missed this one but looks like the new one is on steroids. I bought this one new in '82 from Mac McDonald in Colorado Springs. This was back during the big country music scare of the 80's so it saw a lot of bars. |
