Roy Rosetta has contributed to the steel guitar significantly for a long time. I know Roy is an extraordinary piano/key board player but he is a mainstay at steel shows. Can't imagine a steel show without him. That said, in my opinion, Roy Rosetta should be in the Steel Guitar Hall of Fame.

While I heartily agree- Roy is the best! - what is the state of the Hall of Fame- who votes- where are the plaques and when and where is the ceremony to be held since Scotty's absence?

It did have a lot of meaning at Scottys. Maybe the next biggest show like the Texas show would be a good place for it to land. I would include the NTSG but it seems to be struggling. It should be where people can gather to see the wall.

How about displaying the awards at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville?

Another vote for Roy, and I think Texas Steel show would be the place for all the honors.

Roy should definitely be inducted into the SGHOF. I've often said that Mr. Rosetta is the steel guitar players friend.........He's done his homework, knows all of the tunes that steel guitarists love to play, and those arrangements as well.
Those members in the SGHOF should definitely have a permanent place to have their plaques displayed, my vote would be to place them in the CMHOF in Nashville. Just my 2 cents worth.

I whole-heartedly agree. Roy is a very class act and humble as well. Have had the chance to chat with him several times over the years. He is calm, cool, collected...nothing ever seems to phase him. No matter what happened on the band stand, he made it all seem seamless. I remember after one particular several sets at Scotty's that seemed to be "more than challenging", Roy came through as always, Stellar. When I bumped into him at the next break, I said "Roy, you were just amazing and always seem to be on fire!" Roy calmly responded, "I just try to stay out of the way!" Yes, he deserves to be the HOF!!!!!

I imagine Roy would agree with you, Joe. Roy is an amazing musician, and a very patient and gracious person. I do find it amusing that a bunch of sidemen would have a debate about allowing another sideman into their ring of honor. Roy Rosetta absolutely deserves to be honored without regard to his weapon of choice.

I certainly agree Roy should be inducted. I will mention this to Albert Talley who is President of the Texas Steel Guitar Association. Roy deserves some kind of honor for all the years he has helped. What a great guy and his wife Barbara is equally first class as well.

I had the same independent idea of Roy being in the Hall Of Fame ever since the late Bobby Caldwell went in. When it comes to "Steel Guitarists' Friends", Roy is right up there with Bobby. His face was an integral part of the convention for so many years.
