NO LONGER FOR SALE.
Ihave owned this one of a kind lacquer
Mullen guitar for two years but it has been resting in the USA played only several weeks at home last summer..
It was purchased from Duane Dunard and refinished by Forum member David Higginbotham who did a superb job.

I gladly ship internationally to Forum members. I've done it before shipping pedsl steel guitars and six string guitars to Japan, the Netherlands, Iceland, Italy, Germany and Australia and it has always gone smoothly thanks to the buyers. Shipping costs will be higher.

I am only selling it due to four hip surgeries that make keyed steels harder to play so I am going to shorter keyless steels.

The Mullen has split tuning on 3 E9 and 2 C6 strings.
The case would not win a beauty contest but it is structurally sound and does the job.

Pedal 2 is slightly cocked to the right but not problem playing with pedals 1 and 3.
I can not send until the end of June when I am back in the USA. A $100 non-refundable deposit will hold it if you are interested. I have been a Forum member since 1999 and have bought and sold here so you can check my previous history.
Have also been an EBAY member since 1999 where my user name is: IZTVAN

Price. NO LONGER FOR,SALE.

$3450 from Fargo ND plus shipping/insurance. Price is $3450 plus shipping/insurance. which is USA and likely be $135. Will also trade for D-10 Kline, D-10 Lamar or Excel D-10 keyless. Please send Forum Personal Message or email me if you have any questions. I will ship internationally.
Thanks. Steve

I'm sure you'll get a big repsonse on this one.

Something you said piqued my interest:

I am only selling it due to four hip surgeries that make keyed steels harder to play so I am going to shorter keyless steels such as the Kline.

I have not heard this before. Could you elaborate as to why keyed steels are harder?

I may be facing a similar situation in the near future.

Thanks,

John

Guys, thanks for the comments.
John, I just read your post about your stroke and recovery. You will overcome the problem. Hang tough and continue to do what needs to be done.

Larry, I was unaware you were a previous owner of this steel and thank you for confirming the fine work John Higginbotham did refinishing it.

John, don't worry about a hip replacement interfering with you ability to play steel. My problem was an unusual case with four operations within one year and most likely a nerve being nicked. The right leg is weak so lifting it and moving it to the left is uncomfortable, particularly on a keyed steel of 33" as opposed to a keyless of 28". On the longer guitar the right knee levers are further rightward so the leg must travel further to reach pedals 1through 3. You will be just fine.

Thank you, Mickey. Would you mind if I added three former posts that deal with this Mullen when it was an orange 8 + 5 and you did quite a bit of work on it to make it what it is today in terms of color, ease of playing etc. ?

I wonder how difficult it would be to turn this into a keyless without altering its tone. Perhaps another alternative would be to shift the RKR. and RKL levers more toward the left making it easier for me to shift the right leg with less of a reach.

Tim, thanks for mentioning this was your steel about seven years ago. It allowed me do some Forum searches. Steve t.

Thanks, Mickey.
I won't decapitate the guitar!!!
What I will do is send you more information in an attrmpt to move the right levers a bit to the left and just leave it keyed. Since the guitar is in the USA, I may have to wait until I return in June

I really appreciate your help especially knowing how busy you are. Stevet

Steve.. FYI... to physically move the levers
we will need to get split shafts, or tear the guitars
undecarriage to move the X shafts. New pull rods
will need to be cut for the new locations as well
Ill be happy to do the work if ya need me to..I have the parts in stock...
Peace!
