I can't help you on the answer to your question, but yesterday I bought a 1979 Session 400!
I suspect it will be the "winner." '70's Session 400's are generally considered a gold-standard for PV amps and steel. Maybe not THE gold-standard, but well respected.

I've posted my three-amp shootout between my Milkman, Session 400, and a 65 Reissue Twin before . Most people agreed that the Milkman has the edge (but it was cheating, with two cabs firing), but about ten percent of the people think the $300 Session beat both a $700 Twin and a $2100 Milkman. I think the Steel King is a fine amp, but I'd HAVE to choose the Session.

I put a Peavey Black Widow speaker in a Steel King and the Steel King lost all of its unique sound. In it sounded exactly like my factory modded Nashville 400. At that point it's just a matter of which you like the features of the most, casters, looks, weight, reliability, EQ setup.
