Kenny will turn 85 this year and is still going strong. At one stage if there was pedal steel on an Australian record it would've been Kenny playing. He was a good friend of Scotty and Jerry Byrd.
here he is playing Hawaiian Tattoo.

Kenny lives just a couple of miles away from me. One of the great gentlemen of steel guitar and truly world-class. Still a super player with a smile second to none.

Anyone know what kind of bar he's using on Hawaiian Tattoo?

I`m asking the same question. It looks like he has a smaller diameter bar welded on top of the larger one, perhaps for gripping purposes?

Sleepwalk looks that way, but the Hawaiian Tattoo looks like something I've never seen, and gives the PSG that Hawaiian TONE.

Greetings all.
I gave an explanation about Kenny''s steel here. Kenny was a friend with Jerry and is steeped in Hawaiian playing. Much of the tone comes from Kenny's nuences and stylings given his immersion with Hawaiian.
Kenny uses this bar with all his steel guitars including his 7 string Dobro.
