I have a '65 single 10 wraparound. I've never AB'd it with a D10 wrap, but I have with my bolt ons. Very different animal. I agree with TC - the wrap is more subtle and even. More nuanced. The bolt on is sheer power. All this being said, bolt ons are my fave . They just speak to me when I'm playing them. At least the two I own. |
Bolts are amazing tone machines, I have two of my own, a 1965 and a 1966 I sure agree with you Abe , I've toyed with acquiring a wrap around in the past two years but the bolts are really astounding to me and give me all I want to hear! However i'd still like to play wrap around! _________________ Old Emmons D-10's & Wrap Resound 65, Standel amps!

- I think the original wraparound was the best sounding of all the Emmons guitars...
- The Blade that I used for so many years was a split-tail and always sounded great to me until I played it next to a wraparound, so I can't honestly put it in the same category...
- When I make a fuss over a wraparound, it's because I've never played another guitar that inspired me as much...
- The guitars I've heard and described as having that "extra special" sound, had the original wraparound neck...

I can't believe this guitar is still here at that price... _________________ https://steelguitarsonline.com/ |

If Chris Lucker, who with Mike Cass know more about 1964-5 Emmonses than anyone, says there were only about 40 D-10 wraparounds in existence, then 25% of them now reside in the Austin/San Antonio corridor. _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.
Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg? |

40 was originally made, what I'm wondering is how many of those are still around, and how many are actually in playable condition...I'm affraid that after over 50 years that percentage of wraps in TX is actually much higher... _________________ https://steelguitarsonline.com/ |
