I have a weekly gig that sometimes gets on the loud side from my perspective. When I put in plugs (even the high fidelity custom molded musician plugs), I find that I'm not hearing my amp enough.
I'm thinking that I need to go to an in-ear monitor. My amp is always mic'd so I figure I'd run this mic through a monitor amp unit with an XLR pass thru. I'll use some good quality wired ear buds.
I think I'll hear the band well enough just from leakage through the earbuds, but I reckon I could grab an aux send from the board to mix in, if I need to hear more of them.
I'm looking at the Rolls PM 50 or PM 351, and others. Any suggestions?

I have a Rolls PM 351. It was perfect when I was playing in a loud loud band with a rhythm and a lead guitar amp bracketing me on stage. I also sang backup, so having the extra channel worked out great. Aux send from FOH, amp and vocal mic in pass through (with adapters) with volume adjustments for each. It was a bit of a pain having all the extra setup, but my ears wouldn't ring at the end of the night!

I used the Rolls PM50 and it was good. I got in a new band and they gave me a Behringer P1 and I really like it too. I think they're both around $50 and do a good job.

I've been using in-ears for a full year now with the band I'm in. I got the Westone UM Pro 20 (2 drivers per side) on a well known auction site at a good discount.
There's no turning back. It's tough now to work with bands that are using wedges, unless the volume is bearable.
We are going through a Presonus 32 channel rig, although I do have a Rolls PM 351 in my bag in case the need arises with a different situation.

I have a set of the Shure SE215 earbuds and they are great.
The posse unit looks fantastic, but a bit pricey for what I need. I do like the idea of the ambient mics on the control box. This would be great for catching band chatter between songs.
I have an old Fishman blender that I'm going to try on my gig tonight. I'll either use the line out from my Nashville 112 into the Fishman (vocals be damned), or I'll get an aux send from the board for just my steel and vocals.

Bryan, thanks for the suggestion. I got one and it is nice, but the trick is getting a good steel signal into it. nv112 direct is brittle. Mic on the amp is the way I guess. What do you do?
