One of the greatest guitarist of all time. You can hear the steel guitar influence in his playing (his dad played steel guitar, I understand)

Thanks for posting, Ken. Scotty is one of the best guitarists that no one has ever heard of. For those interested he has at least two CD's out (if you can find them) that are EXCELLENT: "Triple Stop" and "Classic Scotty".

I totally agree, Jeff. I have all of his CD's and even went to see him in Macon, GA a few years back. That was an awesome show. Here is a clip from that show. playing "Take the A Train"

He's been a favourite of mine for thirty years.

He's an example of a prodigiously talented musician who only has a slender grasp of theory. I saw a clip of him trying to describe the Fmaj7 chord he was playing - "Don't know what this is - some sort of F chord, I think".

And he gets any tone he wants from that Tele - he's an alien!

I bought this album back in the early 60's and still think its one of George's best and never could find out who played steel. if you love steel guitar, you have to love this album. so, somebody please, who is the steel player?

Looks like the great Jimmy Day played steel on that one...I wouldn't mind hearing it!
