I notice that some speakers are mounted from the front and some are mounted from behind the baffle. Is there a reason for this? |

In a glued and sealed cabinet, from the front is the only option. Usually requires a separate panel for the grill cloth. I don't know if there's any sonic advantage or disadvantage. |

I think it depends on the construction of the speaker.
If the front of the speaker has cork, you would mount that one from the rear. |

What Bill said. If the grille is easily removed, the speakers are usually in the front; if the grille is not easily removed, it's from the rear _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)
