Thanks to Les Cook for the heads up on this one ...

"The first-ever compilation of χαβάγιες ("havagies"), the nearly forgotten Hawaiian-influenced music of 1930s Greece, focused on the compositions of Kostas Bezos and his ensemble White Birds." You can download a digital copy from the Bandcamp link for $10 that comes with an extensive PDF of all the background info and photos. Great to support this kind of scholarship for our instrument. I'm listening to it now.

Thanks, this is doubly interesting for those of us that play steel guitar AND play Greek music.

This sounds very interesting. My Greek/Dutch wife can finally enjoy some of my music!

The fretting looks a bit different from the BaÄŸlama sazes I've owned which were like this, so I'm curious about your fretting. Your do not seem to be tied on and moveable.

The "real" saz I templated the electric one from is set up like the illustration. The "Electro-Saz" has actual frets and even divisions, whole tone, three-quarter tone, half tone, quarter-tone. I hardly ever use it, it's still in storage in California. It's pretty fussy with the long scale and string breakage.

What are you trying to tune the long neck electro saz to?

On most of the ones I've seen the treble (so to speak) string was tuned between A and C. If you want to go to D you would need a short neck...or a saz capo, which they have.

Very cool, thanks.
