I recently got my turntable and stereo system back up and running after a very long hiatus. I pulled out one of my favorite albums from about 1973 (yes I bought it new)by Michael Murphy. When I opened up the album (for you youngsters, LPs used to come in great, bi-fold type albums for lots of cover art, etc.) I saw a person I know of only through this forum - Herb Steiner.
I may be late to the party but Herb I had no idea!! How cool is this and one of my favorite albums. All I can say is the album could have used more of your playing. Liner notes credit Herb with "mandolin, pedal steel guitar and humor"
Unfortunately, I don't think this album is available any more.

My introduction to Herb's great playing was the album "Alvin Crow And The Pleasant Valley Boys". I bought the album new back in 1976, I believe... 41 years ago! I remember listening to Herb's playing and wondering, how does he do that? I spent a lot of time in the woodshed with that record. Here's the back of the album:

Who knew? I must have heard his playing. Was this from California days?

Here is an historic one as long as we're on the subject of Herb Steiner and Gary P. Nunn. Anybody remember hearing "Up Against the Wall Redneck mother" on AM radio in the early 70s?
