likely most common response :
1. Reverb
2. Reverb with a bit of Delay

"What amp" ? too many choices to list. Sorry...

What type of music are you playing ?

I own several Fenders and a couple Peaveys, and my Milkman Half and Half.
For the amps with tubes, I use the amp reverb, and a Lexicon MPX100 with the Peaveys.
I almost never turn the reverb off.
For song-specific effects, I will use amp tremolo (Session 400, Fenders), a Mutron Phasor, Sparkle Drive for subtle dirt, a Mahoney Buzz Tone for serious hippie fuzz, and a Tom Bradshaw Dunlop Resonator pedal. I keep a digital delay in the car;I never know when I might need a chock.

I am down to 3 steel amps: Telonics 500C combo , Peavey Nashville 400, Walker Stereo steel with 2 re-coned JBL speaker cabs. Most of the time I play through the Telonics with TC Elecronics G Major 2 set on reverb or reverb + delay and a Telonics FP-100 foot volume. With the Nash 400 I use a Goodrich pot pedal and a Hall of Fame Reverb. I've yet to power on my own Walker unit!

I have a modded Nash400 and Nash1000. I use either one with a Roland DD3
But, my go to amp has been a Stereo Steel with a TC Electronics M-300 into the SS cabinets with JBL' s in them.

Personally, I like when these kinds of threads get started again, cause things change, and sometimes its nice to start a fresh thread.

Here's mine:

Stage One >
Goodrich Pot Pedal >
Boss RV-5 >
Peavey Artist Amp (1x12 BW)
with a 15" BW extension cab that came out of a Session 500 that's the about the same vintage as the Artist

The amp is a great little stack, and offers a lot more volume than I could ever need. It has a functional reverb tank, but I've come to terms with the fact that I prefer digital verb

My go to amp to go out and play is a Peavey Nashville 112 with on board reverb.
At home in the shop I play thru a Walker SS pre amp with a peavey 200 power amp with a Lexicon MPX-100.

I also have a combo amp with an Evans pre amp,a hidden Stewart World 250 power amp amd a Lexicon MPX-100 thru a 15" JBL D-130 speaker.

Another combo amp is a Walker SS pre amp, with a hidden Stewart World 250 power amp, a Lexicon MPX-100, thru a 15" Black Widow 1501-4.

In my old age I have caved

Main amp for Steel is a N112 with a 12" Fender Gold Label Eminence speaker , no extra effects.

I also carry a small Fender Blues Jr, stock, for guitar to each gig as I am probably playing guitar 3 or 4 songs each set, or rather, whenever I want to !

I am done with the double duty amps, Twins, Devilles etc, love them to death but have moved on. Yes 4 to 6 gigs each month. Maybe more.

If the room is large I bring out the N400 for Steel but I still use the B-jr. for guitar which admittedly can't cover the ground of a 40 watt Fender amp clean. But it's typically a 3 hour gig so it's no big deal. The gig ends before I get frustrated !

If it's an outdoor gig, big stage, it's the N400 and...uhh..the HR Deville for guitar , I still own one of those baby's.

and NO, we don't mic amps unless it is an outdoor big stage show. We dance with the one we brung...

I'm using a MSA D10, Goodrich L120, Peterson tuner, a Boss DS-1 distortion I use on a Jason Aldean tune into a Nashville 400. I use the amp's reverb.

I would like to get another NV400 and a Lexicon MX200 for delay and verbs running stereo. Everything is always mic'd and mixed from the front desk.

Most of the time either a 1972 Silverface Twin Reverb or Webb 614-E into a Sarno Black Box and Benado Steel Dream. I have a Peavey Vegas 400 and one or two others in reserve. The Twin is converted into a head unit so I have a choice of speaker cabinets. I can go with two 12 inch speakers, one 12, or one 15.

For pedal steel, Fender Twin! When I play non-pedal, they tend to be more 'raucous' gigs, so I'll use Trem (gotta play Pipeline!), OD, Wah and, of course, Delay (ya never know when you're gonna want to play 'Apache') Smile

This seems fun. I have a built in fuzz in my 1976 MSA D-12. Lil Izzy into a true bypass looper. Loop 1 is drive - Wampler Black '65. Loop 2 is organ - Origin effects slide rig into EH B9 into Strymon Lex. Loop 3 is volume pedal - Hilton. Loop 4 is delay - Donner Yellow Fall into Tom's Line Echo. Loop 5 is reverb - MXR m300 reverb. Out into the front end of Carvin BX500 to a custom speaker cab with a telonics neo 15". Whew. With this rig, I feel I can cover just about any style and with the finger-switched looper I can switch quickly. It's a lot of pedals though and I'm waiting for a TC m350 rack unit to come in the mail. That might replace the three delay and reverb pedals on the board and then maybe I can find a way to cut back even further.

Early model Standel Custom XV
Strymon Flint, El Capistan, Nobels preamp booster (three knob pedal great for adjusting treble, bass, & volume when you can't reach your amp, über transparent)
--sometimes---
Eventide Pitchfactor
Fulltone tube tape echo
Earth Drive
Landgraff fuzz
Lots of other stuff... fx come and go pretty quick.
